Role to include service as Southeastern region director for the National Emergency Number Association (NENA).

MURFREESBORO, TN – On April 27th, 2020, NENA: The 9-1-1 Association announced that Cassie Lowery, ENP of Rutherford County (TN) Emergency Communications has been elected by the organizations’ membership to serve on its Board of Directors and help lead the association’s mission to improve 9-1-1 through research, standards development, training, education, outreach, and advocacy.

Lowery, who will represent NENA members from the Southeastern Region on the board, has worked in the 9-1-1 industry for twenty-five years and has volunteered at both the county and state level on multiple boards and committees. She served as Secretary for the Tennessee NENA board for six years and currently serves as Chair of the Financial Study Committee for the Tennessee Emergency Communications Board.  Lowery also is certified as a NENA Emergency Number Professional (ENP) and has successfully completed the NENA Communications Manager Certification Program (CMCP). She is also a member of the Red Cross Outreach Committee and Secretary for the Ethos Youth Ensembles Board Of Directors.

Rutherford ECD Director Steve Smith commented, “It really came as no surprise to me that 911 professionals from throughout the southeast chose to elect Cassie to serve in this important position within our national organization. Just as those of us who have known and worked with her for many years, our NENA members recognized her thorough knowledge of current 911 issues in addition to her dedication to public service and work ethic.”

Lowery, along with several other NENA members from around the country will be sworn into their new positions in June.

Pursuant to T.C.A. 8-44-103, the Board of Directors of the Rutherford County Emergency Communications District meeting previously scheduled for Friday April 17th, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. in the District’s Administrative Office located at 591 Fortress Boulevard, Murfreesboro, Tennessee has been canceled due to the current COVID-19 Pandemic.

Recognition coincides with National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (April 15 -19, 2019) and 911 Education Month

MURFREESBORO, TN – Since being officially designated by Congress in 1991, public safety agencies across the country have recognized the instrumental role played by 911 telecommunicators during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. Public Safety Telecommunicators are the dedicated professionals who answer 9-1-1 calls from citizens, process requests for service, and utilize technical skills to provide communications support to law enforcement, fire and rescue departments and emergency medical services. This week in April is dedicated to America’s “first first” responders” who serve as public safety telecommunicators.

The Rutherford County Emergency Communications District (RCECD) recognizes these important public safety professionals for their contributions and public service to their community.

“It has been a long-standing tradition that the RCECD has dedicated time each year to honor the outstanding men and women who answer the public’s calls to 911 seeking help”, said Steve Smith, RCECD Director. “Daily news events serve to remind us of the important role 911 public safety personnel play in response to all emergencies. They work diligently under stressful situations to keep our emergency personnel and citizens safe. Their professionalism, compassion, and skills are unrivaled. We want to recognize and honor them for the fantastic job they do every day.”

“The Rutherford County Emergency Communications District continues to ensure that our 911 public safety answering points are provided the most current 911 technologies available. The benefits of such technologies however, would not be fully realized without the dedicated service of those individuals recognized by their individual agencies and the Rutherford County Emergency Communications District this week”, said Smith.

Created by public referendum in 1986, the Rutherford County Emergency Communications District provides Enhanced 9-1-1 emergency communications services through five public safety answering points operating within Rutherford County. (LaVergne Police Department, Smyrna Police Department, Murfreesboro Police Department, Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department, and Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services).

Pursuant to T.C.A. 8-44-103, notice is hereby given that the regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Directors of the Rutherford County Emergency Communications District scheduled for Friday, December 7, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. has been rescheduled for Friday, December 14, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. in the District’s Administrative Office located at 591 Fortress Boulevard, Murfreesboro, Tennessee 37128-4129.

Calls placed to 911 are not processed using census data.

In fact, more than 80% of 911 calls are placed from cellular phones and have no relationship to your census address records.

Do not be alarmed that your census records will delay an emergency response to any 911 call placed.
